Bboy 10 Tonn

I am 35 yrs old and still active in the bboy scene.  In the early 80s it was a hard time for me seeing lots of gang violence and racism and it took bboying to unite the streets - non violent gangs.  Started dancing when i first saw bboying on TV and knew that was my tribe.

Bee

Bee has been breaking and dancing since 1983. Influenced by the 'Rock Steady Crew' and the 'New York City Breakers' he has been involved in the UK B-Boy scene for the last 23 years.

On his travels he has been lucky enough to have jammed with many of the pioneers and legends that have inspired him.

Finn

I started bboying in 82 after seeing some guys on morning television. My first crew was TuffRock which consisted of me and three other bboys from Totterdown, Bristol. We used to battle a crew called Emperial force every week at the Tropic club in Bristol. Emperial force later became Bushploy. The only member of them still going is Smurf (now with the physical jerks).

I gave up bboying around 86/87 coz I got into a bad scene. Bad move.

I rediscovered it all in about 2001. Since then I've seen it completely take over again. Im probably more all about it now than I was then.. just don’t get the time to practise.

Kwam

My name is kwam aka bboy kwamikazee 35 years old from cardiff. I did some breaking back in 84-85 and kinda stopped when it faded out. i got back into breaking about 95 but only did it seriously after i saw the 98 uk bboy champs vid back in 99. Thats when i started to train and practice breaking

again. I am in a crew the uprockaddicts based in cardiff.

hEAVYSHOCK

Bgirl Haylstorm

My name is Hayley aka Bgirl Haylstorm I started breakin' in 2004,not really original oldskool but I was trained by DAJ the Oldskool of Wales and STN.

I am 32 and I live in Newbridge Wales,my crew name is Newflow.ch/Wales that is who I represent.

I'm a fully dedicated Bgirl/breaker who trains very hard and totally enjoy's the moment.

Breakin' is not just for now it's for ever.

B-boy Slammo

B-boy Slammo started breakin in 1983 when he was just six years old. He was a member of a ruthless crew called H2 (The crazy crew) and battled with them until they split in 1991. In 2003 he was at an Africa Bambaataa gig and witnessed the new wave of Breakin which unleashed an uncontrollable urge to throw down and represent the old skool! Since then he has been developing his skills and has battled and preformed all over. In January 2007 he set up Elemental Force crew which is devoted to promoting true B-boy culture and promoting its associated artists.

His belief is that without B-boyin he would probably not be here today and recognizes the impact it has had on changing his life!

Dirty 30s - Leaders of the old school

who's who and who was who

Lil' Jay

Lil' Jay's love of breakdancing started back in 1983, when he was gob smacked watching those 69 seconds of the film 'Flashdance'. They changed his life forever, it was in his blood.

Lil' Jay has been in many crews over the years, and has seen many big shots come and go which makes him even more determined to keep on B-Boying.

Lil' Jay has performed at a number of events including: 'High Energy Show' 1985, 'Breakin' Bread', 'Big Foot Productions', 'Town Gate Theatre', 'Questers Theatre', 'Christmas Dance Off at East Gate Shopping Centre', 'Urban Games', 'Jump Off', 'Bug Jam' (2002, 2003, 2004), 'XBox' 2004, 'Earls Court Sports Exhibition', 'Rushes Short Films Festival' (Sound - Leicester Square) and the pinnacle of his career so far was dancing with 'Crazy Legs' (Rock Steady Crew) at the 'B-Boy Champs Warm Up Party'.

He is also known as the B-Boy Encyclopaedia due his vast knowledge of B-Boy crews and dancers around the globe. He is the most international of the crew members and has trained with the likes of 'Bag of Trix' (Canada), 'Air Force Crew' (L.A.), 'Fireworks' (Japan). Lil' Jay has learnt that no matter where he goes and who he trains with there is always a great respect amongst fellow B-Boys and B-Girls.

BBoy Timebomb

Started Breakin back in the day in 1984 when i was 14....i had headspins flares windmills and so on...but because i was like 4ft 6 ..i would blow people away with my skills..Crews I were in around 84-86  Electro warriors- all wearing blue Kappa tracksuits which at that time were hard to get hold off...Then onto the darlington allstars..were we would break in the streets at various events..When it disapeared we were all gutted then in 1999 i went to Middlesbrough where there was breakers...and that got me throwing down again...lucky for me i still had the foundations and the power moves and blew these new schoolers outta the water...

I decided to practice up on my breakin at a local gym were i worked and found that i had enough interest to run classes..Now i teach it to young girls and boys 2-3 times a week at darlington and run drop in workshops...These classes are popular...My daughter who is 13 even got to do a master class with Crazy Legs...i'm a bit older / slower and wiser now..but still rockin at 36 years old...

Bounty

Age 35 Gloucester.

Used to break many years ago at school in the 80’s. Had a long break when I left school. Got back into breakin when my son started about 18months ago. Now training with the Cheltenham and Gloucester bboys and bgirls.

Action Jackson

Action Jackson started B-Boying at the age of 7 in gloucester and was part of a crew who had members of different styles. This enabled him to perform & Battle in different cities & also appeared on tv. In the late 80's it all faded. As Action was growing up he always had a keen ear for music & later became a DJ & is part of a DJ crew The Shotcallers. Over the last few years Action Jackson has been part of a B-Boy crew The Toy Soldiers , which has put Action back in the scene after 20 years!! Just recently Action Jackson has also formed a popping group The Operaters, so Action Jackson is a force to be reckoned with...

ILL BOOGS

CREWS: BORN TO ROCK, SIN CRU, FLOOR SCIENCE

Started Breakin 83 til 86 roughly, can't honestly remember the first time I saw it but like alot of kids at the time I wanted to do it, I wasn't all that...started again around 93 with a bit more focus.

I like beer, sex, music and dancing but not in that order, lets battle!

BBoy Suspence

Started breakin in '83 at Anglo Continental Dance School in Bournemouth.  It was everywhere, you'd have to have been in a coma not to have noticed it, shopping centres, subways, street corners, the promenade etc. etc. bustin moves on pieces of lino or cardboard.  First crew was 'Inter City Breakers' and early influences include the films 'Wild Style' and 'Beat Street', (even Breakdance 1 & 2 to a certain extent!) and all the action at Madison Joe's on a Saturday afternoon with Second to None battling crews from out of the area.  Being so young I gave in to peer pressure and quit it around '87 only to start again in 1990 when I was out skateboarding and someone put the 'Planet Rock' album on in the car.  Two years later we (me and Charlie Marbles) started Born to Rock crew and we've grown at a good pace from there to be a tight crew of 10 today.  I've been doing backspins for longer than the people I'm teaching it to have been alive, I just can't imagine life without B-Boying and Hip Hop!
